SK Engineering & Construction will modernize an oil refinery in Bukhara which will produce Uzbekistan’s first eco-friendly oil products, BusinessKorea writes.
SK E&C announced on April 21 that it signed a $600 million contract with UNG, a state-run oil and gas corporation of Uzbekistan, to modernize Bukhara Oil Refinery. It is the first time that SK E&C carries out a project in Uzbekistan.
The project will modernize Bukhara Oil Refinery, a plant with a daily production capacity of 50,000 barrels.
The modernization work will enable the refinery to improve the quality of its products such as gasoline, diesel and lube oil. SK E&C will meet the EuroV new environmental standards (EuroV) in the construction process.
SK E&C and UNG have been in discussions since 2016 to modernize Bukhara Oil Refinery. UNG needed to modernize its facilities to meet increasingly stringent environmental standards. UNG placed the order with SK E&C after recognizing the Korean builder’s outstanding technology and accumulated experience.
