In February 2019, prices for goods and services in the country's consumer market increased on average by 1.6 %, the State Statistics Committee reported.
Products for the month went up by 1.8 %, including food - by 2.0 % and non-food - by 1.5 %. Services have become more expensive by 0.8 %.
Analysis into the impact of price changes for the month showed that in February 2019, the main contribution to the growth of the composite consumer price index, taking into account the proportion of each enlarged group, was made by price changes for foodstuffs (0.9 percentage points, further – p.p.).
In February 2019, the increase in food prices was lower than in January 2019 (2.0 % vs. 2.8 %). The January increase in prices for goods of this type ensured CPI growth for the month by 1.2 p.p. Thus, the impact of the rise in food prices on the indicator of the consolidated CPI for February of the current year was 0.3 p.p. lower.
