On Feb 28 – March 1, 2019, Tashkent will host the meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC), the British Embassy in Tashkent reported.
The upcoming UBTIC session will give entrepreneurs of Uzbekistan and the UK a chance to learn more about the business opportunities available in both countries.
The meeting will consist of official plenary session and private sector sessions. More than 55 UK companies will be represented by over 100 businessmen at the event, the largest number to date.
Uzbek Deputy PM Elyor Ganiev and Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, Co-Chairs of the UBTIC, will oversee the official plenary session.
The sides during the session will discuss practical measures for development of trade and investment between Uzbekistan and the UK, consider cooperation in the areas of healthcare, education and tourism. Signing of several Memorandums of Understanding between both sides is also expected.
As noted by the Embassy, Government officials, representatives of state-owned enterprises and the private sector leaderships will receive British entrepreneurs and exchange information about business opportunities and consider promising areas for future cooperation.
UBTIC is a trade promotion body which was established under a bilateral agreement in 1994. It is an annual forum for the promotion and development of trade and investment relations between Uzbekistan and the United Kingdom and is jointly chaired by representatives from both countries. It supports and assists UK and Uzbek businesses currently operating or investing in either country and alternates between Tashkent and London.
