The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States and Canada, Javlon Vakhabov, held talks with the Vice-President of “B2Gold” company (Canada) Neil Reader, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
During the conversation, practical issues on the implementation of large investment projects in Uzbekistan with participation of the Canadian company were discussed.
Neil Reader, who previously held the posts of Ambassador of Canada in several Latin American countries and the Philippines, noted that the company attaches strategic importance to establishing mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation with Uzbekistan. To implement its initiatives, “B2Gold” intends to attract the most advanced technologies from Canada - a country that is among the top five world leaders in the extraction of mineral resources.
The Vice-President of “B2Gold” shared with his plans about taking part in a trade mission to Uzbekistan as part of a delegation of leading Canadian companies in May of this year. This visit will be organized by the Embassy jointly with the Canadian Business Association in Russia and Eurasia, which unites about 200 companies and enterprises.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the issues of deepening cooperation with leading Canadian companies in this sector are also planned to be discussed within the framework of the forthcoming participation of our country's delegation in the annual meeting of the Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), which will be held in Toronto from March 3-6.
“B2Gold” is a leading gold mining company in Canada. Following the results of 2018, the production volume of the company reached 1 million ounces.
