By 2030, the demand for electricity in Uzbekistan is expected to reach 117 billion kW / h. At the same time, the JSC Uzbekenergo is producing 56-58 billion kWh energy per year, Kun.uz correspondent reports referring to a statement of the company’s first deputy chairman of the board of directors Ruslan Mubarakshin.

“Total power generation capacity of the country is 14,100 megawatts. Of which, 12,000 megawatts of energy production is contributed by the JSC Uzbekenergo. There are also various enterprises with hydro-power and generating resources. Over the years of independence, production capacity has increased by more than 3,000 megawatts. Up to 2021, the production capacity will increase by 1,800 megawatts,” the deputy chairman said.

Nevertheless, the demand for energy in the country is increasing day by day. Mr. Mubarakshin said that the demand for electricity in Uzbekistan will reach 117 billion kWh by 2030. At the same time, the company is generating 20-30 million kilowatt energy compared to the previous year's report.

“All stations work with full capacity, and we also have additional backup power. The main problem is the deficiency of fuel. Every year the demand for energy increases by 3-4% and we are maintaining it. Our government expects that we have to increase reserve capacity and ensure sustainability – we are fully committed to it,” he said.

In accordance with the decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on structural changes, modernizing and diversifying the production, the JSC Uzbekenergo envisages to implement a total of 52 investment projects worth $ 11 billion in 2018-2021.
