The State Committee on Competition reviewed the appeals of foreign companies Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. (India) and Yuriya-Farm LLC (Ukraine).

In the first case, an Indian company stated that the local LLC Merrymed Farm violated the copyright laws. The word mark “OMEZ”, owned by an Indian company, has a certificate of protection issued by the Agency for Intellectual Property.

Merrymed Farm LLC, on the other hand, produces a similar product using the designation “MEROMEZOL”, which has no legal copyright protection in the republic.

In the second case, it turned out that the Ukrainian company, which produces a medicine called “Reosorbilact” under the trademark “Reosorbilact®”, has an international registration in accordance with the Madrid Agreement with the copyright protection in Uzbekistan.

The local company, Dentaflll Plyus LLC, produces and sells a similar medicine using the “Reosorbilact” trademark.

In both cases, a special commission of the State Committee on Competition filed cases on violation of the law and took measures against the local companies in accordance with relevant regulations.
