The construction of the first stage of the airport for business aviation in Tashkent will cost $ 140 million. This is announced following the presidential decree “On measures to implement the Investment Program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2019”.
Now it has been identified that a modern airport complex of civil and business aviation will be created on the basis of the airfield “Tashkent-Vostochny”. $65 million of the total fund will be allocated from the Foundation for Reconstruction and Development. In 2019, it is planned to attract $50 million – of this amount, $20 million will be covered by the Foundation and the other $30 million - bank loans.
Within the framework of the first stage, it is planned to build a passenger terminal with a capacity of 250 people per hour. A runway has been restored and necessary services have been created for the radio engineering of the flights, as well as operation of the airfield.
Within the framework of the second stage it is planned to build additional buildings and facilities, including a hotel.
In spring, it was reported that “Boshtransloyikha” is developing a project for the airport, which will have two terminals: the first is for executives of the government and foreign delegations, the second is for businessmen.
Then, works have begun on clearing and preparing the area for the construction of landing strips, which will be 4 kilometers long and 75 meters wide. A construction of the helicopter hangar has also been considered. The airport apron will be able to simultaneously receive and send up to 20 aircrafts.
The first phase of construction is planned to be completed by 2020 - by that time, the airport will already begin to receive aircrafts and provide services to passengers.
Creation of a business aviation airport based on the airfield “Tashkent-Vostochny” was envisaged by the presidential decree of June 30, 2017.
At that time, it was reported that Uzbekistan Airways would take care of the work, but in the spring of 2018 it became known that Uzbekistan Railways was responsible for the project.
