Today, Uzbekistan and the United States, in the framework of the business forum held in Tashkent, signed agreements worth $2,5 billion. Kun.uz correspondent reports referring to the Chairman of the US-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, Carolyn Lamm.
An agreement on the establishment of joint venture with the American "John Deere", which intends to collect agricultural machines at Tashkent Tractor Plant, as well as the transfer of "Dori-Darmon" pharmacy network to the United Investment Healthcare Group are some of the largest co-op documents signed at the meeting.
In addition, the American companies are planning to set up a joint venture for the production of jewelry in Uzbekistan, organize a textile cluster, launch production of medical diagnostic systems and launch several other projects.
It is worth noting that in the framework of the forum, Ms. Carolyn Lamm stated that the US is ready to compete with Russia for Uzbekistan.
“Yesterday we learnt a very important fact that the Russians signed more agreements than the Americans. We decided that we could make more agreements to increase the level of investment and trading. Our memorandums with Uzbekistan are only the beginning, we keep going forward," she said.
According to the Chairman of the US-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, the American companies are ready to invest over $9 billion in Uzbekistan.
For information, following the visit of Vladimir Putin, Uzbekistan and Russia signed 785 bilateral agreements and memorandums worth $27,1 billion.
For the past 9 months of 2018, Uzbekistan and the United States have almost doubled their bilateral trade and brought it up to $332 million. Currently, 210 enterprises with the participation of US companies are successfully operating in Uzbekistan. Since the beginning of 2018, 25 enterprises have been created with the participation of American capital.
The total amount of American investments and loans attracted to the economy of Uzbekistan for the period 1998-2017 exceeded $1 billion.
