Uzbekistan appoints new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia

Botirjon Asadov is appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Russia, the press service of the MFA reports.

On October 8, Mr. Botirjon Asadov presented his credentials to Gregory Karasin, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister.

Before the sides embarked on discussing important aspects of bilateral relations, Mr. Karasin congratulated Mr. Asadov on his new position and wished him success in his mission in the Russian Federation.

Then the parties exchanged views on the upcoming state visit of Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan in October this year.

For information, Botirjon Asadov has been acting as First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan since February 2018. He has worked for many years as the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Korea, the advisor to the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the PRC and the Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan.

As reported earlier, Uzbekistan's former Ambassador to Russia Bakhrom Ashrafkhonov replaced Alisher Sultanov as the head of the JSC “Uzbekneftegaz” in September, 2018. Mr. Ashrafkhonov had worked as the head of the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in Russia for more than 2 years, starting from February 2016.
