Uzbekistan and China plan to jointly develop digital economy and create Digital Silk Road. This was said at the second Central Asian "Huawei Innovations Day", which took place in Tashkent.

"Uzbekistan is moving to the path of innovative development aimed at fundamental improvement of all spheres of life of the country and society. Within the framework of the state program "Action Strategy for 2017-2021", the focus is on the development of research and innovation activities this year.

Comprehensive support of talented youth in the sphere and their creative ideas are of great importance for the implementation of the project. We are interested in sharing experience with foreign partners,” said Akmal Burkhanov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center.

The priority task of the event was to build a digital Central Asia and move towards intellectual world.

“Our main goal is to create an innovative environment and ecosystem in Uzbekistan. Today’s event will provide us with unique opportunity to initiate the development of such ecosystems. With Huawei, we also plan to cooperate in the field of technical innovations,” the Minister of Innovation Development of Uzbekistan Ibrohim Abdurakhmanov noted.

Experts say that Central Asian countries should give priority to sectors with comparative advantages, such as tourism and transport.

“Huawei intends to contribute to the development of a sustainable economy in Central Asia. In particular, we wish to help the region to turn into a digital area. Our goal is to bring technology to every person, every house, and every organization, so that the intellectual world surrounds us everywhere. Life in developed countries is already filled with smart devices, motion light sensors, temperature and sound sensors and so forth. We want people and governments of Central Asia to use them in everyday life,” said Huawei Senior Vice President Victor Zhang..

It should be noted that starting from 2013, "Huawei Innovations Days" have been held in London, Milan, Munich, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and São Paulo.
