Foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan amounted to $20.6 billion in the first eight months of 2018, showing 18.5 % increase over the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan reports.
The volume of exports reached $ 8.6 billion (growth rate - 4.4%) and imports $ 12 billion (growth rate - 31.2 %). Foreign trade surplus, in the meantime, was around $ 3.4 billion.
List of Uzbekistan’s top trading partners remained almost unchanged as of July and August of the current year.
As a result of the measures taken to support foreign trade and further enhance cooperation with the CIS countries, the share of the CIS members in foreign trade turnover of Uzbekistan increased by 5.6 % compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 38.8 %. The share of other foreign states in Uzbekistan’s trade turnover was 66.8 % in January-August 2017, which dropped to 61.2 % in August 2018.
