Uzbekistan, China to increase trade turnover up to $ 20 billion

A delegation of the People's Republic of China headed by Secretary-General of Shanghai Political and Legal Affairs Commission Cheng In visited Uzbekistan, the press service of the Tashkent city khokimiyat reports.

Within the framework of the visit, a meeting was held with representatives of the delegation at Tashkent city khokimiyat building.

During the meeting, prospects of cooperation in agriculture field was considered. Chinese business circles expressed their intentions to implement several projects regarding fishery, nuts and dried fruits growing in Uzbekistan.

The sides assessed the current state of cooperation between the two countries positively and dealt to increase the long-term trade turnover up to $ 20 billion.

At present more than 700 enterprises operate in Uzbekistan with participation of Chinese investors. There is also Uzbek-Chinese Trade House and the Association of Chinese Industrial and Commercial Enterprises functioning in Tashkent.

Furthermore, officials stated that Tashkent and Shanghai became sister cities in 1994 and in 2019 25th anniversary of this contacts will be celebrated. At the end of the meeting, Tashkent city khokimiyat authorities voiced their readiness to support the projects of the Chinese investors and stated that they will contribute to further development of Uzbek-Chinese relations.
