The obstetric institutions of the country have been introducing the perinatal audit technologies – analysis of each case, which will help identify missed opportunities.

These technologies have been widely discussed at the conference organized by the Ministry of Healthcare of Uzbekistan jointly with the European regional bureau of the World Health Organization. Taking part in the discussions along with domestic specialists were experts from Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan.

“The level of maternal mortality rate has been reduced 3,2 and that of child mortality – 3,4 times over in recent 25 years. This is the result of a large-scale work conducted on the improvement of quality of medical assistance,” stressed deputy Minister of Healthcare Asilbek Khudoyorov. “All maternity hospitals of the country have been modernized and fitted out with modern equipment. A network of perinatal centers has been set up for rendering assistance to women with pregnancy complications. Great attention is paid to introduction of advanced technologies, specifically, perinatal surgery has been developing at accelerated rates, i.e. this country began to operate infants who wouldn’t be able to survive without surgery.”

At the same time the healthcare establishments still possess a huge potential for the further improvement of medical assistance quality, the experts noted.

The introduction of perinatal audit technologies will enable to accurately and more precisely outline the bоttlenecks and elaborate the efficient strategy for their solution.
