This year on April 17- 27, X International Chess tournament dedicated to the memory of Georgiy Agzamov was held in Tashkent. One of his international players - a member of the Management Board of the Polish Federation of chess, an international judge Andzej Filipovic shared his impressions about the trip to our country in an interview with Jahon Information Agency.

Appreciating the development of youth sports in Uzbekistan and the formation of the "chess culture", a Polish expert pointed out the following:

– In The course of my visit, I was convinced that your country is one of the leading countries in the world development of chess. In this regard, I would like to thank the leadership of the republic and the National Chess Federation for the implementation of unprecedented measures for the development and popularization of chess. Undoubtedly, this kind of sport became a way of life for thousands of people in Uzbekistan, and most importantly for young people. A lot of talented young chess players and chess potential of the Uzbek youth, having historical roots, is very high. The country raised a number of worthy representatives of the chess school, which further raises its prestige in the international arena.

Today chess in Uzbekistan is developing as never before. This kind of sport is given a special attention. The International Chess Federation perceives the republic as a leading chess power, not only in Central Asia but also in Asia.

These achievements became possible thanks to achieving the independence. Uzbekistan claims a place in the top ten among the 173 member states of FIDE Uzbekistan. It is no exaggeration to say that Uzbekistan can become the center of attraction of the chess world.

I think that it is important to attract talented young people to study and practical application of the experience of countries with developed chess traditions for the further development of chess in the country. In this regard, it is necessary to pay special attention to the introduction of chess programs in primary schools, the creation of favorable conditions for the leading young chess talents.

Having familiarized with the activities of the Republican specialized youth chess school in Tashkent, which consistently promotes chess and brings talented athletes capable of worthily defend the honor of the motherland on the world stage, I was very impressed. Here, children and young people are engaged in their favorite game and improve their skills. Players can play online in the modern and beautiful building of the school, equipped with the latest technology classes.

Of course, the school provides good basis for the preparation of the Uzbek players to serious world-class matches. The decision of the Head of your state to establish such school should be an example for other national chess federations.

In many countries, sport which demands physical effort is considered to be best. Although the ancient Greeks said that the sport - it is a combination of strength and intelligence. But it’s a pity that chess and other intellectual sports are not included in the Olympic program.

Once again, I congratulate all chess fans on the success of the International chess tournament dedicated to the memory of Georgiy Agzamov and thank you for the invitation to take part in it. Such activities will contribute to the further popularization of chess in the country and in the whole Central Asia.
