On November 22, Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the main office of Uzbekneftegaz to check the readiness of the energy system for winter, the presidential press service reported.

At a meeting with the energy sector leadership, it was noted that 14.5 trillion soums had been allocated to improve it and increase readiness since the beginning of the year. The system was provided with all necessary materials and equipment.

As part of the power grid modernization program, 100 substations, 11.5 thousand transformers and 34 thousand km of power lines were updated. Power plants with a total capacity of 675 MW were also launched.

A guaranteed supply of 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas was also agreed upon. A sufficient volume of blue fuel has been accumulated in underground storage facilities for a stable supply of it to both the population and enterprises.

Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov reported on the work to prepare the energy system for the winter season, including fuel and equipment reserves. He said that from December 1, the sector will switch to round-the-clock operation.

In the coming months, 8 solar and wind power plants with a capacity of 1.7 GW, as well as a gas turbine with a capacity of 500 MW, are expected to be commissioned in the Syrdarya region. A new mine with 900 thousand tons of coal will be launched at the Shargun field.

The President noted the importance of a stable energy supply, while calling for compliance with payment discipline. Officials and employees of energy companies were given instructions to combat illegal connections.
