Japanese Hanwa to install solar panels in Uzbekistan

A delegation from the trading company Hanwa and the consulting firm Ernst & Young ShinNihon visited Uzbekistan for negotiations on the introduction of alternative energy.

First, the guests met with employees of the Department for Support of Innovation, Green and Cognitive Economy of the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The participants discussed cooperation to implement a co-financing mechanism for renewable energy projects.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan allocated a subsidy of $200 thousand to Hanwa for these purposes. The money is provided under the Joint Credit Facility (JCM), the memorandum of which was signed in October 2022.

The Japanese company plans to implement a pilot project in two medical institutions in the Yakkabag district, Kashkadarya region. It is planned to install solar photovoltaic panels and introduce a biofuel heating system.

The specialists presented the Ministry of Energy and Finance with the objectives of the project and the expected results of its implementation. The parties agreed to cooperate in the implementation of projects.

The next day, the delegation of Hanwa and Ernst & Young ShinNihon was received by the MIIT Deputy Head Oybek Khamroyev. There was a conversation with him about broader cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japanese partners in the development of renewable energy sources.

The possibility of attracting Hanwa’s direct investment in solar panel installation projects was also discussed. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to begin practical work in this direction.
