Central Bank issued an additional 6 trillion soums into circulation in H1 of 2023

“A small part of the demand for cash from cash receipts to banks was provided by the Central Bank through additional issuance of cash into circulation. In particular, for 6 months of this year, the Central Bank issued additional cash in the amount of 6 trillion soums, and as of July 1, the share of cash in the total money supply amounted to 24.8%,” the report reads

It also became known that in January-June 2023, crediting to bank cards (359.2 trillion soums) increased by 1.6 times compared to the same period in 2022, and during this period funds were cashed from bank cards in the amount of 86.4 trillion soums. 

In addition, over 6 months, the issuance of cash from the cash register of banks (including through ATMs) increased by 14.2% compared to the same period in 2022 and amounted to 187.3 trillion soums. 

The volume of bank cash turnover in January-June 2023 amounted to 369.7 trillion soums, and increased by 16.9% compared to the same period in 2022. In particular, the flow of cash to banks increased by 19.8% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 182.4 trillion soums. 

It should be recalled that in 2022, the Central Bank issued an additional 16.2 trillion soums of cash into circulation. Of these, 15.7 trillion soums fell on the period of a sharp increase in the need for cash in April-July.
