On May 8-9 of this year, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Qudratov visited Qatar and held talks with the heads of ministries and large companies of this country.
The parties discussed the current state of bilateral relations, investment cooperation and industrial collaboration. Prospects for the development of trade-economic ties were discussed with the Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Muhammad al-Thani.
The Qatari side highly appreciated the potential of mutual cooperation and expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of the Qatari leader to Uzbekistan will give a strong impetus to the deepening of a multifaceted partnership and open a new page in the development of relations between the two countries.
It was agreed to develop a joint action plan for the expansion of mutual trade and a program for the development of industrial cooperation, covering investment projects in the energy, petrochemical, chemical, agricultural and food industries, as well as in the tourism and IT sectors.
The sides reached an agreement on measures for the prevention of double taxation, preparation for the signing of agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments. With the joint efforts of the parties, a business forum will be organized in Tashkent bringing together representatives of large business circles of Uzbekistan and Qatar.
During the conversation with the Minister of Finance, Ali al-Kuwari, it was agreed to take practical measures on the joint financing of a number of infrastructural projects.
The parties decided to establish direct cooperation between the commercial banks of Qatar and Uzbekistan.
