For example, at the end of the 1st quarter of this year, the total volume of services provided by residents amounted to 2,381 billion soums. Compared to the same period last year, the volume of services provided by IT Park resident companies increased by 292%. For comparison, the data for the 1st quarter of 2021 was 438.6 billion soums, and in 2022, it was 814 billion soums.
Indicators by spheres:
- programming – 1,358.4 billion soums;
- processing – 839.9 billion soums;
- education – 25.6 billion soums;
- BPO – 157.1 billion soums.
The export volume of IT Park residents increased by 327% compared to the 1st quarter of last year and amounted to $57.2 million. 48% of them go to the USA, and the rest to Great Britain (15%), Singapore (10%), CIS countries (10%) and others (17%). By the end of 2023, the export volume is expected to reach $300 million.
In the first quarter of this year, the number of IT Park residents was 1,262 companies.
The main share of residents works in the following areas:
• software development and support (61%);
• data processing (5%);
• IT education (20%);
• BPO (14%).
In addition, thanks to the benefits provided, IT Park residents create additional jobs and increase the number of IT professionals in the country. Thus, in the 1st quarter of this year, more than 2,100 jobs were created in resident companies. The total number of employed professionals exceeded 20,000, which is 12% more than the figure at the end of 2022.
In the first quarter of 2023, startups of Uzbekistan received more than 17 billion soums from state authorities. At the same time, startups in Jizzakh received more than 12 billion soums, projects in Navoi – more than 1.4 billion soums, and startups in Bukhara – more than 1.3 billion soums. The amount of foreign financing for the 1st quarter of this year reached 1 million 904 thousand dollars.
In 2023, several startups of Uzbekistan won international competitions:
- Tass Vision and Billz startups of Uzbekistan became finalists of Silkway 2023;
- Participants of the “Don’t waste” startup, which participated in the Best Global M-Gov Award competition organized by the UAE government as part of the World Government Summit, received an award of 500,000 AED ($136,000);
- To participate in the first wave of the “Plug and Play Uzbekistan” acceleration program, Uzbek startups such as Sugʻurta Bozor, Paylov, Didox, Finiso.io, Smartup X, UYSOT, Ruby Fleyet, botcommerce, Beautify, Mazzami, Mohirdev, Monetary, Royal Taxi, Mento, TASS Vision, Pivot Ad were selected, more than 120 startups in total applied for this program.
A number of measures have been implemented to help increase literacy and IT culture in general. In particular, in the 1st quarter of 2023, 7,395 people studied in 205 IT centers of the IT Park, 2,280 of them are civil servants, and the remaining 5,115 people are young people under 30 years old.
In addition, the second stage of the “One Million Uzbek Coders” project was launched. Within its framework, more than 1 million people will have the opportunity to use the prestigious IT courses of more than 240 leading international companies and educational institutions on the Coursera platform.
Also, in the first quarter of this year, 111 young people were able to successfully cover their expenses for obtaining international IT certificates. More than 196 million soums were paid to them. At the same time, the list of compensated international IT certificates has increased from 184 to 216, and now 139 of them are professional, 49 intermediate and 28 beginner certificates.
