As part of the construction of 2 large wind farms in the Gijduvon and Peshku districts of the Bukhara region, the Saudi Arabian company ACWA Power and the Asian Development Bank signed loan agreements in the amount of $174 million.
Due to the installation of 158 wind turbines with a total capacity of 1 GW at these stations, 3.6 billion kWh of electricity will be produced annually. Once commissioned, these stations will be the largest wind energy project in the Central Asian region.
It is noted that after the commissioning of 2 wind power plants, 1.1 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year will be saved and the emission of 1 million tons of harmful gases into the atmosphere will be prevented.
The power plants are scheduled to be put into operation at the end of 2024.
