Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjayev held meetings with the leadership of the “Alyat” free economic zone (FEZ) and “Baku International Sea Trade Port” CJSC as part of his stay in Azerbaijan yesterday.
According to the MIFT, during the negotiations, the prospects for establishing investment, transport and logistics cooperation based on the joint use of resources and capabilities of the port and the FEZ were discussed.
In particular, the prospects for expanding investment partnerships with an emphasis on the implementation of joint projects in the production of food, leather and footwear, textile and other high-demand products with high added value in the territory of the “Alyat” free economic zone with the organization of further export to the markets of the EU countries, the CIS and other neighboring countries.
With the Director General of the Baku International Sea Trade Port CJSC Taleh Ziyadov, the possibilities of further expanding transport and logistics ties were considered, in particular, taking measures to increase the volume of container traffic and transportation of Ro-Ro type cargo through seaports. The parties welcomed the signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement on International Road Transport. The prospects of opening Uzbek warehouses and container terminals on the basis of the Baku International Sea Trade Port and holding a meeting of the Joint Commission on International Road Transport to discuss issues of mutual transportation of goods, including essential goods through the territories of the two countries, were emphasized.
