Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan sign agreements for more than $3 billion

As a result of the Uzbek-Kazakh interregional business forum held in Tashkent, documents were signed totaling more than $3 billion.

In particular, an agreement was signed on the development of cooperation in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres between Samarkand and Turkestan, a separate “Roadmap” was adopted with specific investment projects and trade contracts in the field of agriculture, as well as a solid package of agreements that consolidated plans for the development of interaction business circles of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

The largest documents include:

- a program of cooperation to increase mutual trade and the implementation of joint projects in the field of agro-industrial complex between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan - $1 billion 317.9 million;
- an agreement on the supply of vehicle kits and components of the Chevrolet brand - $500 million;
- a memorandum of understanding on the project for the construction of a textile complex in Shymkent, the project cost of which is $98 million;
- an agreement on the modernization of signaling and communications at the railway section “Angren-Pap-Kokand-Andijan-Savay” - $76.4 million;
- a memorandum of cooperation on the construction of a multimodal transport and logistics center in Uzbekistan - $70 million;
- a license agreement for the production of household appliances Artel - $55 million;
- an agreement on financing the project “Organization of the production of Chevrolet cars in Kazakhstan using the small-scale assembly method” - $50 million;
- agreement on the start of an investment project for the production of ceramic tiles in Astana - $40 million.

In addition, a memorandum of understanding was signed on conducting geological exploration work in the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, a memorandum of mutual cooperation in the energy sector and a memorandum of understanding in the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres between the khokimiyat of Samarkand and the akimat of Turkestan.
