At the meeting, Director General for Exports and UK Trade, Andrew Mitchell, announced that new funds will be allocated for the development of trade relations and that the UK will further support Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO. Following the meeting, the parties signed a bilateral action plan.

In 2021, the total volume of trade between the UK and Uzbekistan doubled and currently stands at nearly $0.5 billion. 126 British business representatives from 73 different companies participated in the 26th meeting of UBTIC.

We can achieve this by working together on Uzbekistan’s WTO accession, expanding our support for economic and political reforms and maximizing the benefits of the Generalized System of Preferences,” said Kenan Poleo, Consul General and Trade Commissioner for Eastern Europe and Central Asia.
