“This is almost 3.3 times higher than the same period in 2021 ($5.3 million),” Asia-Plus quoted the Customs Service of Tajikistan as saying.
The total trade turnover between the countries amounted to more than $285 million. The main export goods of Tajikistan to Uzbekistan in January-June 2022 were cotton ($17.3 million), cement ($14.1 million), electricity ($12.2 million) and aluminum ($10.6 million).
During the reporting period, Tajikistan mainly imported from Uzbekistan mineral and chemical fertilizers, natural gas, household appliances, clothing and footwear, carpets, silk products, tomatoes, watermelons and melons.
At the end of June this year, the delegation of Uztekstilsanoat, as part of a working visit to Tajikistan, discussed with the heads of local authorities of Khatlon and Sughd regions the prospects for creating a joint venture for processing cotton.
In addition, earlier an agreement was reached between the business circles of the Sughd and Fergana regions on the creation of a spinning factory in the Asht region.
