In Gansu province (Northwest China), overseas warehouses of Tashkent have been opened. They are located in the international dry port of Lanzhou city, the administrative center of the aforementioned province. The new warehouses, the useful volume of which is 9,000 cubic meters, will perform the function of sorting goods exported from Uzbekistan to China.

Reportedly, due to the establishment of overseas warehouses, the delivery time of goods to customers can be reduced from 30 to three or four days.

It should be recalled that similar warehouses of the Gansu province began operating in Tashkent in October last year. Experts believe that the new model “international freight trains plus overseas warehouses” will enhance the stability of cross-border cargo transportation.

Since the launch of the Belt and Road Initiative, trade-economic ties between Gansu and Uzbekistan have become increasingly close. Gansu’s agricultural products, its mechanical equipment and Uzbek cotton yarn are the main commodities of bilateral trade. In addition, in June 2020, the first train on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan mixed international freight route departed from Gansu.
