The delegation of Uzbekistan was headed by Furkat Sidikov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, while the delegation of the United Arab Emirates was led by Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
According to the MFA press service, the parties conducted a thorough review of the current state of bilateral relations with an emphasis on enhancing ties in the political, trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres, exchanged views on the practical aspects of interaction within the UN, OIC, WTO and other international organizations.
The importance of deepening investment cooperation and building up tourist exchanges, especially in the field of Ziyorat tourism, was noted. Mutual interest was confirmed in enhancing the activities of the Uzbek-Emirates Investment Company in order to expand the scale of joint projects being implemented.
Special attention was paid to issues related to the settlement of the conflict in Afghanistan, as well as the prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE in the Afghan direction.
The sides considered proposals on the schedule and agenda of joint events planned for 2020-2021, the establishment of inter-parliamentary dialogue, and the expansion of the legal framework for cooperation.
Within the framework of the consultations, other issues of the general agenda were also discussed.
