Specialists of the Institute have developed a complex technology of radiation hardening of drilling instruments. Early experiments showed that the wear resistance of some drilling tools increased by 100%. The result was achieved by an optimal combination of magnetic pulse and radiation action on drilling machines.
“Increasing the wear resistance of the rock cutting tool will significantly increase the productivity of work due to reduced time spent on unproductive operations and improving the continuity of the work process. At present, the mining sector of Uzbekistan uses both tools of local production and those of foreign producers. Analysis of the use of tools of local manufacture showed relatively low wear resistance compared to foreign analogs,” said the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, senior researcher of the Institute Shavkat Malikov.
According to the scientists of the Institute of Nuclear Physics, the radiation technology of hardening materials differs from foreign ones in the complex and simultaneous effect of radiation and pulse magnetic field on the equipment. This approach has been proved to significantly improve the strength of the material.
Experimental work was carried out at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine, the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine and the state unitary enterprise Uranredmet-Geology.
