According to the press secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nigora Khojayeva, three working groups were organized to deal with the consequences of the flooding. The groups, consisting of 940 workers, 5 contractors and 7 subcontractors, used 421 units of equipment and 200 mobile pumps.
“3.8 km of “centralized network” and 9.5 km of inter-economic channels have been fully restored in 3 districts. Also, cotton crops were cultivated in 3,260 hectares of land, pulses – in 9,027 hectares, vegetables and beans – in 1,570 hectares. The condition of 1,656 hectares of the cultivated area was improved,” she said at a briefing held at the Agency for Information and Mass Communications.
Cotton was planted on an additional 4,253 hectares of land in all districts. As noted, 2,054 hectares of cotton fields (21 percent) and 2,026 hectares of cereals were damaged but not destroyed.
It was also reported that 7,864 tons of nitrogen and 3,200 tons of phosphorus fertilizer had been delivered to the region.
