Uzbekistan temporarily abolishes duties on some imported medicines and medical equipment

According to the document, during the quarantine period for combating the spread of the coronavirus, customs duties are not levied on some medicines, medical devices, medical equipment, as well as raw materials, materials and substances used in their production, when they are transported through the customs border. The list of the products is provided by the Ministry of Health and the Pharmaceutical Development Agency.

The State Tax Committee, the State Customs Committee and the Antimonopoly Committee are responsible for daily monitoring of prices for medicines, medical devices, medical equipment, materials and substances used in their production, essential goods, as well as for establishing strict control to prevent artificial price increases, the formation of artificial shortages and increased demand for these products.

In addition, during the quarantine period, the Special Republican Commission has the right to reduce customs duties and excise tax to 0 percent when importing certain types of essential goods for a period of up to three months.
