In the evening of March 9, the initial production capacity of the New Angren Thermal Power Plant decreased by 100 MW due to the failure of the coal supply system.
According to the information provided by JSC “National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan”, the power unit was extinguished by the power station’s staff to prevent accidents caused by failure at the fourth power unit with a capacity of 200 MW. The total capacity of the station dropped from 800 MW to 420 MW.
“As a result of the emergency situation in the power system due to the malfunction, the power supply has been cut off, and now to ensure security, restrictions on power supply has been introduced.
This is not the first case of the station’s malfunctioning. During the first nine days of March, there were 5 shutdowns in the power units,” the National Dispatch Center said.
It is noted that the detailed information on the problems and their elimination will be published on the official website of JSC Thermal Power Plants and on the social networks.
