At the first joint session of the chambers of the parliament on January 21, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov briefed on the government’s plans for the near and far future.

According to him, Uzbekistan is aiming to sharply improve its position in the Doing Business rating of the World Bank in the next decade.

"Uzbekistan will take the necessary measures to raise its position from the 69th to the 20th place by 2030 in the World Bank's Doing Business Index," the Prime Minister said.

For reference, Doing Business is a legislative rating that improves or restricts activities of medium and small businesses.

The rating analyzes the indicators that assess the ease of doing business in different countries around the world. Analysis include business start-ups, construction permits, property registration, credit, electricity supply, tax, international trade, contract performance and insolvency.

The results of the Doing Business Index over the past decade show that Uzbekistan is improving its position. In particular, over the past 8 years Uzbekistan has risen 104 positions in this rating.

Recently, the WB released the results of this index for 2019. According to the report, Uzbekistan is among the top 20 countries in the world for the best results in improving the business environment.

At the end of 2019, Uzbekistan scored 69.9 out of 100 points and was ranked 69th (in 2018 - 76th) out of 190 countries.
