On December 16, in Tokyo, ahead of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Japan, the Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov met with Deputy PM and Minister of Finance of the host country Tarō Asō.
During the meeting, current issues of preparation for the top-level visit and related events were discussed. According to Tarō Asō, the event will become a powerful impetus for the development of multifaceted partnership between the two countries.
The results of intensive work aimed at strengthening bilateral institutional cooperation and rapprochement of business circles of the two countries, carried out over the past few months, were also examined. It was noted that the systematic approach, used in coordinating the joint actions of ministries, departments and companies during the negotiation processes, made it possible to achieve practical results in a short time and significantly expanded the scope of inter-country cooperation.
Sardor Umurzakov expressed gratitude to the Government of Japan for the assistance provided within the framework of Official Development Assistance (ODA), noting that over the years of fruitful cooperation in Uzbekistan, a number of socially significant and infrastructure projects have been implemented in the fields of energy, transport, telecommunications, education and health.
The parties expressed their intention to adhere to the set pace in the further development of cooperation by establishing close intergovernmental relations and holding regular meetings to monitor the progress made and discuss new promising initiatives for study and implementation.
