On December 12, 2019, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met in Rome with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy Manlio Di Stefano, the MFA press service reports.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues on bilateral agenda, as well as interaction within the UN and the Uzbekistan-EU format was considered.
The sides confirmed their readiness to strengthen cooperation on a mutually beneficial basis in political, trade-economic, investment, tourism and cultural-humanitarian fields.
The parties stressed that the adoption of the new EU Strategy for Central Asia in June, the joint work on the draft Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the EU create favorable conditions for fully realizing the existing potential for expanding ties on a long-term basis.
The importance of increasing tourist flow and enhancing cultural exchanges between the two countries, including in the fields of music and visual arts, theater and cinema within the framework of Uzbekistan Culture Days in Italy and of Italy in Uzbekistan in 2020-2021 was noted
The schedule of bilateral events planned for 2020 was also considered at the meeting.
