The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the UK Said Rustamov held talks with the executive director of the British company Lapwing Advisers Ltd Dermot Mayes.

The issues of practical implementation of the investment project on the creation in Uzbekistan of a large data storage and processing center that meets international standards were discussed, the MFA press service said.

The British side noted the progressive dynamics of the introduction of information and communication technologies, e-government and e-commerce systems in Uzbekistan, which contribute to economic growth and accelerated development of all areas.

This process of widespread informatization actualizes the need to create a high-tech infrastructure for storing and processing data, which ensures reliability and uninterrupted access to them, as well as reduce vulnerability to cyber threats.

As Dermot Mayes emphasized, in the light of previous agreements with the Ministry of ICT Development of Uzbekistan and Lapwing Advisers Ltd, which has extensive experience in investment consulting, formation of a consortium of participants and investors in the project, which will also include another British company and Japanese manufacturer of telecommunications equipment, has been successfully completed.

An agreement was reached on a visit by the management of Lapwing Advisers Ltd and its project partners to the republic in late November-early December of this year to agree on a start date for the practical implementation of the mentioned project, in which the foreign side plans to invest about $300 million.
