Companies from Russia are working with administration of the Syrdarya region on projects worth about $200 million, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the first deputy khokim of the region Anvar Karimov.

Karimov said that 19 joint ventures with participation of Russian companies are currently operating in the region.

The deputy khokim stated that the most active business contacts are maintained by the enterprises of the Syrdarya region with partners from the Altai Krai, Novosibirsk and Tomsk Oblast.

In particular, the Uzbek-Russian joint venture “Syrdarya mega lyuks” intends to implement projects worth $150 million by 2024. There are expansion of polypropylene packaging production, creation of an industrial park and construction of social housing among them.

“This is our largest investor today, they have already been allocated land to expand their activities,” Karimov added.

The long-term list also includes projects in the textile industry, food industry and processing of agricultural products.

On August 22, an international investment forum took place in Gulistan. About 180 business representatives from almost 30 countries participated in it.
