Delegation of MARA University of Technology – UiTM will visit Uzbekistan on August 13-16, 2019, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, within the framework of the visit, it is planned to hold negotiations with the leadership of the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism in Samarkand, establish cooperation and discuss the possibility of opening a joint faculty to train tourism industry specialists on the basis of this university, as well as El-Yurt Umidi Foundation in advanced training of faculty and student exchange through the organization of their short and medium-term internship at UiTM.
MARA University of Technology is a public university in Malaysia, based primarily in Shah Alam. Established in 1956 as the RIDA (Rural & Industrial Development Authority) Training Centre, it opened its doors to some 50 students with a focus to help the rural Malays. Since that time it has grown into the largest higher education institution in Malaysia by physical infrastructure, staff organization (academic and non-academic), and student enrollment.
The university comprises one main campus, 13 autonomous state campuses and 21 satellite campuses. With some 17,500 academic and non-academic staff, UiTM offers around 515 programmes ranging from foundation to postgraduate level. It is home to some 168,000 local and international students, in full-time and part-time modes. Teaching is fully conducted in English.
