The V Republican Contest of Vocalists held in Tashkent

Rewarding the winners of the V Republican Contest of Vocalists named after People's Artist of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nazira Akhmedova held in Tashkent. 

The event, held at the State Academic Theatre named after Alisher Navoi, was attended by representatives of ministries, departments, the diplomatic corps and international organizations, operating in our country, students of higher educational institutions of art, fans of opera.

The contest, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Union of Composers, the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan and the State Academic Theatre named after Alisher Navoi, held since 2002, contributes to the support of young talents and the expression of their creativity.

This year the competition was attended by 36 opera singers 18-32 years old from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent. They performed classical arias, romances of Uzbek and world composers, arias from operas accompanied by piano, symphonic orchestra. Special attention is focused on the performer’s understanding of a musical work, the ability to bring it to the listener, performance, scenic culture, voice capabilities.

The tenor Damir Rahmonov from Kashkadarya region won the Grand Prix of the contest. The first places were taken by Angelina Akhmedova (Tashkent, soprano), Birdonahon Matkarimova (Fergana region, soprano), Hujanazar Jumaev (Kashkadarya region, tenor), and Sultonbek Abdurahimov (Namangan region, bass).

A big concert with the participation of the winners and artists of opera art of Uzbekistan held at the end of the event.
