On January 30, WBA and IBF junior featherweight titleholder, 29-year-old American Daniel Roman (27-2-1, 10 KO) will defend his titles against 24-year-old Murodjon Akhmadaliyev (7- 0-0, 6 KO) from Uzbekistan.
Boxers were supposed to meet on September 13, 2019, but then Daniel Roman was withdrawn from the battle due to a left shoulder injury, he was forced to abandon the defense of his titles.
A 12-bout boxing will take place at the Meridian at Island Gardens in Miami (Florida, USA).
Ahead of the match, Roman said that he knows what the former amateur standout Akhmadaliev brings to the table, but he also sees some flaws he believes he can exploit.
“Murodjon Akhmadaliev beat my teammate Isaac Zarate so I’m very familiar with him,” said Roman at a media workout. “I know he’s a strong kid, an aggressive fighter, he’s hungry and he’s going to try to take me out as best he can.”
“He makes a few mistakes, he likes to fight with his hands down, not sure if that’s his style, but those are the flaws I see in him. Akhmadaliev might not have the experience as a pro, but he was a great Olympic amateur who won a bronze medal. At this level there are no easy fights. His style and my style are going to make for a great bout.”
Akhmadaliyev is preparing for the fight with his coach Joel Diaz, a former Mexican-American professional boxer in the light weight category. Diaz is currently considered one of the best boxing trainers.
The international sportswear brand Buka gained the right to broadcast the match live and donated it to the Sport TV channel. Thus, viewers from Uzbekistan will be able to watch the live broadcast on the state TV channel on Friday, January 31 at 07:00.
