New head of Uzbekistan Taekwondo Association appointed

At an extraordinary conference of the Taekwondo Association of Uzbekistan, a new leader was elected, the NOC press service reports.

The conference was attended by the President of the National Olympic Committee Rustam Shaabdurakhmanov, first deputy Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Oybek Kasimov and representatives of the sports community.

Following the event, Sherzod Toshmatov was elected chairman of the Taekwondo Association. Conference participants unanimously supported his candidacy.

Prior to his appointment, Toshmatov had worked as the first deputy head of the Uzbekistan Boxing Federation. Under his leadership, athletes achieved high results at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and Asian Championships in Tashkent.

Earlier, Akhmadjan Rakhimov resigned from the post of deputy president of the National Olympic Committee and the chairman of the Taekwondo Association of Uzbekistan.
