Denis Istomin lost the match against Robin Haase of the Netherlands in the qualifying round of the Indian Wells Masters tournament on Friday.
The Zuid-Hollander won in the first round in two sets of Uzbek Denis Istomin: 7-6 (2) and 6-1.
It took Haase an hour and sixteen minutes to beat Istomin who is 33 places lower than he is in the world rankings (68 to 101) and against whom he had a hundred percent score (three victories in three mutual encounters).
It should be noted that the Dutch tennis player was the better player from the start, but he did not succeed in taking the distance in the first set, which meant a tiebreak.
In it, Haase did manage to make the difference. He walked out to 6-1 thanks to three minibreaks and did not give up that comfortable lead in the future.
Haase persuaded that line in the second set convincingly. He literally “broke” Istomin both at 2-1 and at 4-1 and made it relatively easy at 5-1 on his own service.
