Today, at the conference hall of the National Olympic Committee, an extraordinary General Assembly of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Uzbekistan was held. The meeting was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the NOC, heads of sports federations and associations, as well as media representatives.
“In this year, a large-scale work has been done on the development of Olympic sports. We have achieved great success and our athletes have performed well at international tournaments, including the integrated competitions - the 18th Summer Asian and the 3rd Para-Asian Games - 2018 (Indonesia), the 3rd Summer Youth Olympics (Argentina). Athletes of Uzbekistan updated records in the number and quality of medals. This success states that this year the harmonious and systematic work of the NOC and sports organizations has been implemented at the proper level. Having organized selecting tournaments, sports competitions for the NOC prizes, we thereby expand the boundaries of sports promotion, the Olympic movement and healthy lifestyle. At the same time, we are trying to discover new talents that will become Olympic champions in the future,” Jasur Matchanov noted.
During the meeting, an election of vice presidents of the NOC was held. Alisher Sultonov and Murod Azimov, former vice-presidents, had to leave their posts due to the increase in the scope of work and their appointment as responsible for the implementation of state programs. In this regard, two candidates for the post of vice-presidents were presented today. Those attendees of the meeting unanimously supported the candidacies of Akhmadjon Rakhimov - Chairman of the Taekwondo Association (WTF) of Uzbekistan and Komil Ruziyev - President of the Asian Kurash Confederation. The composition of the executive committee is also changed.
