It was earlier reported that the President of the National Olympic Committee, First Vice-President of Uzbekistan Football Association Umid Akhmadjonov and head of Uzbekistan Taekwondo Association Akhmadjon Rakhimov departed for Seoul, South Korea, to conduct several negotiations with the Korean side. During the visit, the Asian Taekwondo Federation, Taekwondo International Foundation, as well as the leadership of the South Korean Football Association held talks. Agreements were reached on a number of important issues. On December 4, a meeting was held with the President of South Korean Taekwondo Association Choi Chang Shin.
During the meeting, Chairman of the WTF Taekwondo Association in Uzbekistan Ahmadjon Rakhimov talked about friendship ties between the two countries and specially noted the development of bilateral cooperation. The parties agreed to hold joint training sessions until the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Also, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the heads of both associations. According to the agreement, the parties will closely cooperate in the field of sports medicine, doping control and joint training sessions.
It’s known for everyone that Korean and Japanese climates are almost homogenous. Therefore, many countries prefer to prepare for the Olympic Games in South Korea. During the meeting, Mr. Choi Chang Shin stressed that the South Korean taekwondo association’s doors are always open for the Uzbek athletes.
It was noted that the Uzbek taekwondo players have great potential in this regard and athletes can share their experiences in joint training sessions. In addition, he declared that he intends to visit the competitions in Uzbekistan.
