The Judo Grand Prix tournament, which kicked off on Nov. 9, continues at the sports complex “Uzbekistan” in Tashkent.
It is important to note that the competition provides important points for the Olympic Games license. There are 350 athletes participating from 7 countries of the world.
Athletes, who win the first place in the Grand Prix of Tashkent, will also earn a $ 3,000 including rating points. The sportsman will receive $ 2,400 and the coach will be given $ 600. Silver and bronze medal winners will be awarded $ 2000 ($ 1600 + $ 400) and $ 1000 ($ 800 + $ 200) respectively.
On the first day of the competitions, there were contests among men in 60 and 66 kg weight categories, among women - 48 kg, 52 kg and 57 kg. Three Uzbek judokas entered the contest on Nov. 9.
Diyorbek Urozboyev, who came in 60 kg weight category, defeated the athletes from Iran, Germany and Mongolia during the day and headed to the final. In a decisive fight he competed with another Mongolian athlete Boldbaatar Ganbat and lost his chance. He was awarded the silver medal by the AIBA President Gafur Rakhimov, who is currently in Tashkent.
Also, Sardor Nurillayev, who took part in 66 kg weight class, overcame the representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Mongolia and Azerbaijan. At the final contest for gold medal, he lost to Slovenian Adrian Kombokka. As a result, two representatives of Uzbekistan in both weight categories among men were awarded with silver medals on Nov. 9.
Another Uzbek athlete Shakhram Akhadov, who took part in the weight category up to 66 kg, defeated Israeli and Serbian athletes. But in the quarter-final, he lost to the rival from Azerbaijan. However, in the bronze medal fight, he triumphed over Mongolian and Russian athletes and became the prize winner of Tashkent Grand Prix.
Thus, Uzbek judokas won three medals in total on the first day of the competition.
Today, on November 10, the official opening ceremony occurred.
Director of the International Judo Federation Vladimir Barta, General Secretary of the National Olympic Committee Jasur Matchanov and Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Dilmurod Nabiyev delivered a speech at the event. Then the tournament opening was officially announced.
