Leadership of Uzbekistan Boxing Federation changes

Today, on February 2, at the National Olympic Committee, a selective conference of the Boxing Federation of Uzbekistan has been held. Representatives of the NOC and federation management, regional divisions, responsible staff, coaches, referees and mass media took part in it.

According to Kun.uz correspondent, the event considered an organizational issue – the first vice-president of the boxing federation of Uzbekistan Sherzod Toshmatov was dismissed. He was replaced by Saken Pulatov who used to work with the FC “Lokomotiv” Tashkent.

“First of all, I thank all of you for your trust. I believe, we will achieve great success together,” Saken Pulatov said.

President of the National Olympic Committee Umid Akhmadjanov, who participated in the event, also congratulated the newly elected leader of Uzbekistan Boxing Federation and thanked the former First Vice President Sherzod Toshmatov.

During the conference, member of the federation’s executive committee, chief coach of the Uzbek boxing national team Marat Kurbanov and the national team’s associate Khasanboy Dustmatov also delivered speeches about the current situation of the Uzbek boxing. They noted that further achievements should be continued.

For information, Saken Pulatov, born in 1975 in Tashkent, graduated from the Tashkent State Medical Institute. He is married, has 4 children. He has been working for many years with the FC “Lokomotiv” Tashkent.

It is noteworthy that the president of the Boxing Federation is officially the first deputy Prime Minister Ochilboy Ramatov, in fact, the first vice-president runs the federation.

During the term of the current vice-president Sherzod Tashmatov (heads the boxing federation since November 2014), Uzbek boxers have shown good results in the international arena and Uzbekistan has become one of the leading teams in this sport. It should be remembered that the national team of Uzbekistan won seven medals at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in the summer of 2016, 10 medals at the 2017 Asian Championship in Tashkent and seven medals at the 2018 Asian Games.
